About

Medical Air is an Air Ambulance Service provider based in Western Australia, providing Global Aeromedical services. Since early 2013 Medical Air has completed on average 130 days of repatriation per year. Predominantly Emergency/ICU MEDIVAC missions. We can facilitate and complete all aspects of Domestic and Global International Patient Transport.

As well as transporting adults and Paediatric clients we regularly assist the New Born Emergency Transport Service WA (NETS WA). Medical Air provides a first-class service; we arrange and co-ordinate all details of each mission with all multi-disciplinary services. Our bed-to-bed policy means an expert Clinical crew will escort the patient throughout the entire transfer completing extensive accurate handover at the destination facility.

Medical Air is equipped to manage Emergency and ICU patients with a high standard of Clinical Safety and Quality. The Medical equipment includes but is not limited to:

CorPuls3 Monitor/Defibrillators; Oxylog 3000 Plus Ventilators; Braun Mini Infuser pumps; Volumetric Pumps; Vacuum Mattresses; Spinal Boards; Femur and Pelvic Splints; In flight, Medical Oxygen; Transfer Oxygen and Laerdal Suction Units.

Medical Air utilises Clinical staff with extensive Critical Care Experience. Including; Emergency Consultant FACEMS, Anaesthetists, Emergency/ICU Senior Registrars, and Emergency/Obstetric trained General Practitioners. Medical staff are required to have current practical skills and regular Continued Professional Development in Advanced Airway skills, Advanced Life Support and Emergency Procedures. Nursing staff are commonly dual registered Paramedics with Critical Care Skills in; Adults, Paediatrics and Neonatal, Pre-hospital and Critical Care Management. Our Critical care teams are equipped to competently manage; Difficult Airway Placement, Cricothyroidotomy, Tracheotomy, Invasive and Non-Invasive Ventilation, Chest Tube Placement, Arterial and CVC Lines, Inotrope Infusions, IV Cannulation, ECG and Arterial Gas Analysis, and Splinting and Stabilisation of Spinal Injuries and other Fractures.

In addition to highly trained well-equipped personnel Medical Air maintains stringent transparent Clinical Safety and Governance Systems to monitor and manage Quality and Safety to aid the evolution of its Clinical service delivery, clinical practice, and consumer engagement.

Medical Air is unique in that it is the only privately owned and operated, fully dedicated fixed wing Air Ambulance service based in Western Australia with entire inhouse engineering and aeronautics completed by our sister company’s Formula Aviation and Nexus Avionics. All companies operate out of our dedicated maintenance facility located at Jandakot Airport, Western Australia and ensure our aircraft are maintained to the highest Civil Aviation Safety Authority’s (CASA) standards.

Medical Air also comprises a unique crew of Pilots. Each Pilot has; more than ten years International flying experience, extensive aeromedical experience and has held; Multinational Staff Licenses and previous positions as flight safety officers and in training positions. An exceptional crew of highly skilled multi-lingual Pilots.

Our team operate Learjet 35A’s and King Air 200 Beechcraft dedicated Air Ambulances with permanently configured Lifeport stretcher systems. Our Learjet 35A’s are fitted with single and dual LifePort units and the King Air Beechcraft are configured for single, dual and triplex LifePort stretchers. All the aircraft offer seating for Clinical teams and a family member or companion.

All Aeromedical services are provided in line with Health Department Clinical Standards as well as global Oil and Gas standards. All Clinical Governance, Safety and Quality, Audits, KPI’s, and Incident reporting are monitored and managed by our CEO, Medical Director, Clinical Operations Manager and Clinical Safety & Quality Manager. Clinical Safety and Quality is imbedded within our organizational structure to ensure optimum client experience and consistent safe service delivery.
