Paris, France, August 12, 2019 - The UK’s largest and longest established air ambulance company, Capital Air Ambulance, has joined the International Assistance Group, as an Accredited Service Provider.

Formed over 25 years ago, Capital Air Ambulance gained a reputation for providing low-cost, turbo-prop options to insurers and assistance companies. Today, King Air 200s maintain those options, reaching the Canary Islands, Scandinavia and North Africa from their bases in Exeter and Coventry.

The investment in two Lear 45s, with space for two stretchers and additional room for a family member and baggage, now extends Capital’s range considerably, and with a Worldwide Air Operators Certificate. Recently, protocols were agreed with one of Africa’s leading air ambulance providers, as well as our Accredited Service Provider, AMREF Flying Doctors, to provide wing-to-wing transfers between that whole continent and Europe, reducing the need to deploy larger and more expensive aircraft.

Lisa Humphries, one of Capital Air Ambulance’s founding Directors, commented: “Joining the IAG is an important part of our plans in developing internationally and we are delighted to be joining this organisation with its long history and solid credentials in our industry.”

With the UK’s potential departure from the EU, the application of the European Health Insurance Card is in question for both British holidaymakers abroad and those visiting the UK. As a consequence, it is possible that the number of aeromedical repatriations, in and out, may increase.
