International Assistance Group (IAG) is delighted to be partnering with AvD Wirtschaftsdienst GmbH, the commercial branch of Germany’s oldest automobile association, the Automobilclub von Deutschland e.V. (AvD).
AvD was a founding member of the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (International Automobile Federation, FIA) and has supported the development of the automotive sector from its inception. AvD can trace its roots back to 1899, when car enthusiasts created an association called “Deutsche Automobilclub” (DAC), which would later become “Kaiserlichen Automobilclub” (KAC) and finally Automobilclub von Deutschland (AvD).
AvD Wirtschaftsdienst GmbH was originally founded with the aim of offering services and roadside assistance to club members. Today, it has matured into a multifunctional provider of products and services, and expanded its scope to serve high-profile partners in addition to AvD members.
Now, as ever, AvD Wirtschaftsdienst GmbH focuses on developing bespoke comprehensive breakdown solutions to satisfy a varied clientele that currently includes OEMs, insurance companies, car rental companies, major multi-brand fleet companies, claims management companies and independent workshop systems, among others.
The Automobilclub von Deutschland (AvD) is known for its in-depth knowledge of and expertise in the automotive industry, and I am confident that our new partnership will be a source of strength and added value to both AvD and IAG Partners,” said Cécile Hermetz, General Manager of the International Assistance Group.
From its head office in Frankfurt, Germany, AvD orchestrates the breakdown services provided for the members of the club and its own commercial customers, whether they drive personal cars, motorbikes, light commercial vehicles or heavy trucks. Its wide range of services includes on-the-spot breakdown cover, towing to the nearest garage and vehicle recovery, and it also arranges rental cars, hotel accommodation, train or plane tickets, appraisals and legal assistance if needed. In addition to this, the company routinely transports and repatriates vehicles on behalf of drivers.
The new IAG Assistance Partner has gradually forged a national network of service providers to ensure that high-quality services are available around the clock. Today, the network encompasses some 600 service providers operating approximately 2,000 roadside assistance vehicles and tow trucks throughout Germany, which are now available to other IAG Partners. AvD’s networkis supported, encouraged and monitored by a team of professionals at the head office, as well as in the field.
