Increased travel to Japan: JAIC steps-up relationship with International Assistance Group

Paris, April 2, 2019

Tokyo based Japan Assist International Co., Ltd (JAIC) has successfully gained Assistance Partner status with the International Assistance Group (IAG).

With a relationship starting in 2002, the move is a step-up from being an Accredited Service Provider in 2017. Since the staggering increase in inbound tourism to Japan in recent years and the expansion of JAIC’s capabilities, they are now able to qualify for Assistance Partner status. The transition went through IAG’s ISO 9001 partnership vetting process implemented in 2018.

According to figures published by Japan’s National Tourism Organization (JNTO). In 2018, the total inbound tourist visits exceeded 31 million, an impressive increase from around 10 million in 2013 and six times the figure recorded in 2003. With the 2020 Olympics not far away, the government’s expectation is that the total will reach 40 million next year.

With the continuing expansion of the International Assistance Group, we are delighted to strengthen our commitment by stepping-up to Assistance Partner status,” commented Kazuhiro Iwabuchi, JAIC’s General Manager. He added: “The inbound travel market is increasingly important to our client mix which includes domestic channels in insurance, travel and retail.”

We are delighted that the long-term relationship between JAIC, the International Assistance Group and our 80+ partners throughout the world has continued to go from strength to strength and we look forward to working together for many more years”, Louise Heywood, International Assistance Group’s General Manager.
