IAG Roadside players gathered to discuss changes in the automobile industry and participate in educational workshops
From Athens to Warsaw, 22 representatives from the International Assistance Group’s roadside assistance Partners in 13 countries, converged on an un-seasonally cold and frosty March morning in Vienna. Following successful joint medical and roadside academies held in recent years combined with the growth in the number of Roadside Partners across Europe, it was decided for 2018 to hold the first Academy completely dedicated to the group’s Roadside assistance business.
The IAG Academies provide unique opportunities for our Partners and Accredited Service Providers to benefit from staff education and development. Over two full days, participants increase their knowledge, learn from each other as well as external experts, renew relationships and meet new Partners.
Following introductory presentations from the newest IAG Partners, delegates participated in agreeing on the objectives for the IAG Roadside assistance arena, educational workshops, and group discussions.
The group was warmly welcomed by our local Correspondent ARBO with a tour of their offices, a trip down the memory lane of roadside assistance with some weird and wonderful looking vehicles to the current well-equipped patrol mini-vans and sophisticated tow trucks. Everyone was impressed and inspired by the in-house digital radio station delivering up to the minute traffic reports interspersed with music to relax the most harried of motorists.
The visit was rounded off with a lively dinner sampling the local Austrian delights of beer, schnitzel, and strudel.
The second day continued with presentations and group discussions on specific aspects of the industry and interactive workshops. The guest speaker from a leading car brand was enthusiastically received as he provided insights into the future of the auto industry with electric, connected and autonomous vehicles hitting our highways. The engaging delivery got everyone thinking about how their businesses will need to adapt to meet these challenges head-on and survive in a rapidly changing world. As the session wrapped up, the participants returned to across Europe, minds spinning with information and ideas to share with their colleagues.
