Ke Nako! Netcare 911 is prepared to welcome Soccer World Cup guests - 11th May 2010

Ke nako! (It's time) - The official slogan for the upcoming 2010 Soccer World Cup (SWC).
Our country is poised to host the biggest sporting event in the world in the next 30 days. It is a great opportunity for us as a nation to showcase this beautiful country and we are all proud and excited to be welcoming the world to South Africa.

The arrival of hundreds of thousands of fans over this short space of time means increased excitement and fun, but will inevitably also mean an increased need for medical care. South Africa's medical professionals, in both the public and private sector, have therefore been gearing up to meet this need. In addition the geographical spread of this historic event is considerable so Netcare implemented a detailed Action Plan, and has established a VIP hotline within the Netcare 911 Emergency Response Center to deal with FIFA SWC specific queries or problems and to minimize the impact of the event on our normal operations.

With Netcare's world-class hospitals close to most of the Stadia it is not surprising that several of the Netcare hospitals are officially designated to receive patients from the events by FIFA and the Local Organising Committee (LOC). Each of these designated hospitals has a dedicated FIFA Coordinator to ensure smooth admission, and coordination of all cases. The FIFA Coordinator will be supported by the Netcare VIP hotline and the Netcare 911 International Assistance Desk. The exact locations and contact details of the hospitals are included in the accompanying pamphlet, which you are welcome to circulate to your staff and clients.

Netcare Hospital Group and Netcare 911 have been working closely with the LOC to ensure that we understand their plans, and as the footprint of our Netcare 911 Emergency Medical Services almost exactly mirrors the footprint of the Soccer World Cup we are well positioned to step in if needed. Our Aeromedical division is manned by highly experienced doctors to ensure a continued high standard of expert clinical care, while our self owned infrastructure allows us to deliver consistent reliable solutions.

We are very proud that Netcare 911 has recently become South Africa's first aero-medical emergency evacuation specialist to be accredited by the European Air Medical Institute (EURAMI). In the Netcare 911 accreditation report compiled by EURAMI, Dr Michael Weinlich noted the exceptionally high medical standards within South Africa. He stated that the trauma and emergency medicine standards and training levels of doctors, nurses and paramedics were particularly high and followed strict international guidelines. Dr Weinlich has said: "The operations of Netcare 911 are medically driven. The focus is on state of the art treatment of patients. Experienced medical crews maintain a high medical standard which is driven through ongoing quality management."
The Netcare 911 Emergency Response Center (and VIP Hotline), International Assistance and Aeromedical Services are based centrally in Midrand. They remain ready to assist 24/7 with any difficulties our foreign visitors may experience during this time. Additional staff have been employed and trained, shifts have been designed around match requirements, and all relevant translator resources have been put in place. We trust that this brief overview gives you a greater sense of confidence and peace about the assistance and care we are able to provide to any of your clients who are joining us in South Africa during June and July. Please feel free to contact us if you have more specific queries or to alert us to any needs you may have identified. Soccer World Cup 2010 promises to be an exciting time, and we are ready for all that it may bring.

Netcare 911 Aero-medical division awarded EURAMI Accreditation. 22 April 2010 .

Netcare 911 has become South Africa's first aero-medical emergency evacuation specialist to be accredited by the European Air Medical Institute (EURAMI).

EURAMI approved the level of "Full Accreditation - Special Care" for the fixed and rotor wing operations of Netcare 911 after a thorough three-day on site audit of its operations in Johannesburg and Durban performed between 25 and 27 February 2010. This is the highest level available, confirming the proven capabilities of Netcare 911 in the air transportation of special high-risk patients.

Referring to Netcare 911 Dr Weinlich said: "The operations of Netcare 911 are medically driven. The focus is on state of the art treatment of patients. Experienced medical crews maintain a high medical standard which is driven through ongoing quality management."

Commenting on the news Tumi Nkosi, Managing Director of Netcare 911 said: "This is a major milestone for Netcare 911. We are honoured and humbled to be recognised for our on-going endeavours in the delivery of superior medical expertise and customer service. The EURAMI Accreditation of Netcare 911 represents a guarantee of service excellence for patients utilising the international aero-medical services of the company.
It also attests to a high level of safety and quality in terms of capabilities, medical management and qualifications, aircraft configuration and equipment, operational issues, communications, management policies and quality management. With its accreditation, Netcare 911 joins an elite, international corps."

The European based EURAMI is a non-profit organisation comprising medical professionals and operators from 27 countries throughout the world. It is responsible for the development and standardisation of quality standards within the field of aero-medical emergency rescue. It is widely credited with the global improvement of patient care and safety in the field of aero-medical evacuation. Nkosi went on to say that the EURAMI accreditation of Netcare 911 formed part of a broader strategy aimed at expanding the international footprint and service offering of South Africa's largest private emergency services provider. "A service offering of this nature is absolutely invaluable for travellers and insurance companies looking for a world-class aero-medical emergency evacuation specialist."

Netcare 911 is only the second aero-medical emergency evacuation specialist to receive this endorsement of quality within Africa. This status is also held by Kenya's AMREF Flying Doctor Service, the first Non-European, Non-US air rescue provider to receive EURAMI accreditation.

"Attaining EURAMI accreditation is a major milestone for Netcare 911 as it provides our local and fast growing international patient client base with the knowledge that their safety and wellbeing are in the best possible hands," explained Netcare 911 International Business Development Manager James Crawford-Nutt.

"Medically insured business and leisure travellers who become critically ill while abroad require rapid repatriation, mostly to their home countries. While on route they will require expert medical treatment that will, more often than not, literally sustain their life. On the other hand, insurance companies providing such cover would want to fulfil the needs of their customers, while ensuring that the service on offer is of world-class standard."

"The Netcare 911 team has worked extremely hard to develop a platform that our patients, their families and insurance companies can rely upon for the utmost in terms of safety, professionalism and dependability," concluded Nkosi.
